The B9 Energy Group comprises is a group of companies which share common shareholders. The Founding Directors are all still involved in the business.

In 1992 David and Norman Surplus teamed up with Ian Harvey, Michael Harper and Alan Harris to form B9 Energy with the clear purpose of developing wind farms in the Northern Ireland market.

B9 Energy joined forces with Renewable Energy Systems and completed its first wind farm “Rigged Hill” in December 1994. Over the next 12 years, 7 more wind farms were successfully developed and in 2006 B9 Energy took the strategic decision to shift its entrepreneurial effort from onshore wind to other emerging renewable energy technologies.
